NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has known as a 9 p.m. ET news conference in Glendale, Ariz., Monday to go over the tentative purchase from the Phoenix Coyotes after three seasons of league possession.
Bettman will speak with the press prior to the Coyotes face the Nashville Potential predators in Game 5 from the Western Conference semifinal. The Coyotes lead the very best-of-seven series 3-1 and want one win to achieve the conference final.
Even though possession group has not been confirmed, the key candidate have been an organization brought by former San Jose Sharks ceo Greg Jamison.
The NHL required charge of the Coyotes after former owner Jerry Moyes place the franchise in personal bankruptcy and Jim Balsillie made a deal to buy and slowly move the team to Canada. The Town of Glendale has worked using the league to help keep the Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena, having to pay as much as $25 million annually to pay for the team's deficits.
One potential obstacle towards the deal will be the Goldwater Institute, a non-profit government watchdog group.
